EHR User Satisfaction: Happy Docs Stick with the Little Guys

The big names aren’t getting the big numbers in EHR user satisfaction scores according to 2013 data from AmericanEHR and the ONC. EHR vendors with low numbers of attestations for eligible ambulatory providers generally have a higher average satisfaction score than the large corporations we’ve all come to know such as Centricity, eClinicalWorks, and Epic. Rated on a scale of 1 to 5, relatively low-use products such as ChartMaker, Praxis EMR, and ABELMed scored 3.82 and above, while Allscripts hovered between 2.9 and 3.2, and Cerner clocked in at 2.94.

Transitioning to ICD-10

The clock is ticking on the deadline to begin submitting claims utilizing ICD-10 code sets, yet few hospitals have made significant inroads into the transition. With no indication that the October 2013 deadline will change, facilities that are not already deep into the transition will find themselves scrambling to comply -- not an ideal approach to a process that will ultimately drive billing and reimbursement.

Don't Get Caught in the ICD-10 Storm

It seems that one can't open a medical journal today without being reminded that ICD-10 is coming. And, the tenor of the articles seems very much like a warning rather than a reminder, suggesting the reader batten down the hatches now so as to not be caught up in the storm.
